This tuning module offers an unusually wide range of optimisation options. Not only is the speed limit removed, you can also set the top speed to an individual value from 25 km/h to 45 km/h. In addition, a so-called "dynamic mode" can be set, in which the engine assistance no longer stops so abruptly when the set maximum speed is reached. This results in a much more pleasant ride. All this with correct speed indication in the display.
In addition, the VOLspeed V4 has a number of new features that were not available in the earlier VOLspeed modules. For example, the motor assistance can now be individually adjusted in the different driving levels. In addition, the tuning can now be used immediately after plugging it in ("Plug & Ride") - a complicated setup is no longer necessary.
As with previous VOLspeed modules, all settings on the VOLspeed V4 can be made conveniently using the control buttons on the e-bike; a PC or smartphone are not required for this.
The VOLspeed V4 is compatible with Bosch Gen4 drives with anti-tuning software, among others. Since the maximum motor support has been limited to 45 km/h, the notorious anti-tuning software should not kick in, according to the manufacturer (error 504). Higher speeds are hardly achievable in reality anyway, due to the transmission of the bikes. The manufacturer has tested the product extensively and no 504 errors were generated.
If you want to get the absolute best out of your Bosch e-bike and optimise your vehicle in many ways, the VOLspeed V4 is an excellent choice.
Important note: To be on the safe side, the maximum speed limit should be set to 35 km/h at the most. This can almost certainly prevent the anti-tuning software from recognising the tuning (error 504).
VOLspeed V4 for Bosch Gen2, Gen3 & Gen4 – Features at a glance:
-No more 25 km/h speed limit.
-Maximum speed freely adjustable. You can easily set the maximum speed in 1 km/h steps from 25 km/h up to 45 km/h using the + and - buttons.
-In tests by the manufacturer, there was no manipulation detection (error 504).
-Dynamic mode: In this mode, the motor support no longer stops so abruptly when the set maximum speed is reached. The result is a more pleasant driving experience.
-Correct display of speed, distance travelled and average speed. The speed display is even slightly more accurate than normal - with Bosch drives, even with a correctly set wheel circumference, the speed displayed is always about 5% too high. The tuning, on the other hand, calculates the actual speed based on the set wheel circumference and displays it correctly. This works even if the Tuning module is switched off.
-NEW: The module initialises automatically after installation and is immediately ready for operation ("Plug & Ride"). This also applies when installing the module in another bike or when changing to another display.
-NEW: Support levels can be configured individually (alternative mode). An individual configuration can be set for each riding level (Turbo, EMTB/Sport, Tour, Eco) - to be precise, the strength of the motor support can be set, even depending on the speed. Of course, the original driving modes are also retained. The alternative driving modes can be conveniently activated while driving using the WALK button, and you can easily switch between the standard and alternative modes (this function is not available with Smartphone Hub and Cobi). The self-set alternative modes can even be combined with the popular "dynamic mode". By the way, the alternative mode is already preset with useful values in each driving level (the support is in each case slightly higher than in the original setting).
-Residual range calculation, based on the current driving style with active tuning.
-Tuning can be switched on and off via the control buttons of the e-bike (after switching on the bike, tuning is always switched off).
-Individual activation code. It is possible to set an individual code with which the tuning can be activated using the control buttons on the e-bike (function is not available with Smartphone Hub and Cobi).
-Battery charge level in percent alternating with remaining range when tuning is active. With Intuvia and Purion displays, the battery charge level is also displayed as a percentage, alternating with the range ( this does not apply to the other displays, as these already have a charge level display as a percentage). Interval: 4 seconds range, one second battery level.
-Correct total kilometres, even after removing the VOLspeed V4 module. This is possible because the kilometres in the engine control unit are tracked by the tuning module.
-The VOLspeed V4 does not need its own battery.
-Since the module is very small, it can be easily placed in the engine housing.
Installation
The VOLspeed V4 module must be connected to the e-bike motor, invisible from the outside. To do this, the module must be plugged into the connections on the motor. As these connections are located under the left motor cover, the motor cover must be temporarily removed for this. Special tools are needed to remove the cover, usually an ISIS crank puller and a TX20 Torx spanner (depending on the model).
No cables need to be damaged or modified to install the VOLspeed V4 module.

-IMPORTANT: We generally advise against Bosch software updates - it can NOT be guaranteed that the tuning will still work afterwards.
Only Bosch e-bikes with the old ‘Classic Line’ drive (Gen1, model year 2013 or older) or with the new ‘Bosch Smart System’ (model year 2022) are no longer supported. The ‘Smart System’ is also referred to as ‘BES3’ or generally ‘Gen5’.
NOT compatible with Bosch Smart System E-Bikes!
VOLspeed V2 for Bosch Smart System (BES3) has been released for the new Bosch Smart System.
In contrast to the previous VOLspeed modules, only Bosch e-bikes with a factory speed limit of up to 25 km/h are supported - the new VOLspeed V4 no longer works with Bosch e-bikes with a factory speed limit of 20 km/h or 45 km/h.

If your Bosch e-bike charging cable has a round plug (as shown above), you have selected the correct tuning module. If your Bosch e-bike does not have either connector, you either do NOT have a Bosch e-bike or an e-bike with the old Gen1 drive (Classic Line).

Shipping costs
The shipping costs for Germany are 3,50 Euro. The shipping costs are waived from an order value of 180 Euro. For countries within the EU the shipping costs are 9,90 Euro. The shipping costs are waived from an order value of 300 Euro. We ask you to cover the cost of any return shipment yourself. Please note that customs fees may apply in third countries outside the European Union.
Minimum order value
The minimum order value is 25 Euro. Only from this amount you can use prepayment or PayPal and bank transfer as payment methods.
Maximum order value
The maximum order value for orders outside the EU is 1.000 Euro. The maximum order value within the EU is 12.500 Euro.
