Mountain Tuning Sensor for Bosch Smart System (BES3)

The MTT is a highly effective tuning sensor that removes the 25 km/h speed limit of e-bikes with Bosch Smart System drive. This allows you to ride much faster with full motor assistance.

The MTT does not need its own battery. When the tuning is active, your display will no longer show correct values above a speed of 25 km/h. Tip: Simply use GPS-compatible additional devices such as your smartphone if you want to see the real speed while riding. You can find suitable mounts directly in our shop.

This tuning product is made in Germany.

Three different operating modes

With the MTT, you have the option of switching the tuning on and off as required. Three different operating modes are available. The operating modes can be set when the e-bike is started up by moving the spoke magnet along the sensor with certain wheel movements.

-Tuning permanently activated (factory setting): Speed limit is cancelled, correct speed display only up to 25 km/h.

-Tuning permanently deactivated: Motor support up to 25 km/h, correct speed display.

-Tuning according to switch-on condition: Here you can decide spontaneously when switching on the bike whether the tuning should be activated or not. To activate the tuning, the magnet must be at least 4 seconds in front of the sensor when the e-bike is started up, otherwise the tuning remains deactivated.

It is even possible to individually adjust the maximum supported speed by means of certain wheel movements. Everything else can be found in the instructions.

Note: When delivered, the MTT is always in the "Tuning permanently activated" mode (with the highest speed limit).

Functionality

After installation, the MTT will analyse the current speed profile, process it and -if the tuning is activated- output manipulated values. This will outsmart the preset 25 km/h speed limit, allowing you to ride much faster with full engine support.

Please note:

Since the MTT locks off speeds above 25 km/h for the engine firmware when tuning is active, the displayed speed always remains ≤ 25 km/h. This means that only up to 25 km/h the correct speed is displayed.

Therefore, the total kilometre display of the system will also no longer correspond to the real distance travelled.

Installation

For installation, the original speed sensor of the e-bike must be replaced with the MTT tuning sensor (we recommend keeping the original sensor so that you can restore the e-bike to its original condition if necessary).

The original sensor is located on the rear frame of your e-bike, possibly next to the quick-release axle. There the sensor works in conjunction with the magnet attached to the rear wheel / disc brake. Note that the sensor cable is often routed through the frame. The connector end is plugged into the engine compartment, which is usually protected by a plastic cover.

To gain access to the connectors, the plastic cover of the engine (and sometimes a crank) must be removed for a short time.

MTT for Bosch Smart System - Compatibility

This tuning tool is compatible with e-bikes with "Bosch Smart System" drive, sometimes referred to as "Bosch Gen4 2022", "Bosch Gen5" or "BES3" ("Bosch Development Stage 3"). The system uses mid-mounted motors.

Not compatible with Bosch Smart System e-bikes with ABS system!

Important: Not compatible with e-bikes that have a magnet on the valve. These sensors are installed deep in the motor and cannot be optimised by modules.
