TQ E-Bike Tuning – HPR120S & HPR50 Explained
TQ motors, engineered in Germany, are known for their highly efficient power delivery and specialized design philosophy. Two key drive systems define their lineup:
- TQ HPR120S – delivers up to 120 Nm of torque via a 48V system; used in Haibike Flyon models
- TQ HPR50 – a compact, lightweight system optimized for natural ride feel; featured in high-end e-MTBs like the Trek Fuel EXe
While the HPR120S is built for raw trail power, the HPR50 is designed for minimal weight and stealth integration – two fundamentally different concepts within the TQ ecosystem.
Currently, only hardware-based tuning modules are available – and only for the HPR120S system. These modules are:
- Plug & play
- Reversible and discreet
- Installed at the sensor or motor interface
- Capable of removing the 25 km/h (15.5 mph) speed limit
