SpeedBox 3.0 B.Tuning for Giant (without RideControl Go)

This is a third generation tuning chip that removes the 25 km/h speed limit of various GIANT e-bikes from year of manufacture 2017 onwards (NOT compatible with software updates from 2022 onwards). There is even the option to set the maximum supported speed to a desired value.

In contrast to the "normal" SpeedBox 3.0, this special "B.Tuning" version is compatible with the practical SpeedBox app, so that you benefit from various useful additional options.

Another advantage of this tuning tool is that - even when tuning is active - all values are correctly displayed on the e-bike display (speed, distance, range, etc.).

Advantages of the SpeedBox App

The SppedBox app was developed especially for the SpeedBox 3.0 B.Tuning module. The connection between smartphone and e-bike is done wirelessly via Bluetooth technology.

After you have downloaded the app and paired the tuning module with your smartphone, you can view all relevant riding data and parameters on your mobile phone display.

You can monitor your performance parameters, save individual trips and compare them with your friends, etc.

Here is an overview of the SpeedBox app options:

-Control of the tuning module.

-Set the speed limit.

-Display and save ride data.

-Possibility to hide the tuning.

-Activate engine lock.

-Perform engine diagnostics.

Important note: You can also use the SpeedBox 3.0 B.Tuning module without the SpeedBox app. For example, you can also switch the tuning on and off using the control buttons on your e-bike. So you don't have to take your smartphone with you every time you want to go for a ride on your Giant e-bike. However, the app offers you numerous useful additional features.

Our tip: First download the SpeedBox app before you order the tuning chip. You can then use the demo version, get to know all the functions and test whether the app runs correctly on your smartphone. Your mobile phone must have at least Bluetooth 4.0 (or higher).

Simple operation

After installation, the tuning can be conveniently switched on via the SpeedBox app, or alternatively using the control buttons of the e-bike. Briefly press the WALK button and the display briefly shows a value of 9.9 km/h - this signals that the tuning has been activated and the speed limit has been lifted.

You can deactivate the tuning at any time by pressing the WALK button again, whereupon the display briefly shows a value of 2.5 as confirmation - this signals that the tuning has been cancelled and the speed is limited to 25 km/h again. Your e-bike will then function normally again, as if no tuning chip had been installed.

Tip: For e-bikes without a WALK button, the tuning can alternatively be activated / deactivated with the key combination + - + -.

Setting the maximum speed

To set the maximum supported speed, you must first switch the mode three levels down and then three levels up. The current speed limit is then displayed.

You can change the maximum supported speed by briefly pressing the WALK button or turning the rear wheel 360°. A displayed speed of 1.5 km/h would then correspond to a maximum speed of 15 km/h, a 2.0 km/h display would correspond to a maximum speed of 20 km/h, 3.0 km/h would correspond to 30 km/h, and so on.

After 5 seconds of inactivity, the last speed limit displayed is saved.

Installation

The SpeedBox 3.0 is a chip or module that must be connected directly to the motor. To simplify the installation, coloured plugs with a key are used for the correct connection.

-First you have to switch off your e-bike and remove the battery.

-Then you must remove all the necessary parts of the e-bike to gain access to the connectors on the motor.

-Disconnect the connectors on the cable from the motor to the speed sensor and from the motor to the display.

-Connect the SpeedBox to the disconnected connectors.

-Reassemble the e-bike to its original condition.

-Switch on the e-bike and activate the tuning by pressing the WALK button.

-That's it - your GIANT E-bike is now tuned and you can ride much faster with full motor support!

If at some point you want to restore your e-bike to its original condition, you can remove the tuning chip again at any time.

Important note: If you want to install the SpeedBox in a brand new GIANT e-bike, you must first ride the bike for at least 1 km before switching on the chip for the first time.

The SpeedBox does not need its own battery.

NOT compatible with software updates from 2022 onwards.

Not compatible with SyncDrive Pro motor with RideControl Go.

Not compatible with Giant Talon, Explore, Fathom (2022 produced).

Not compatible with EnergyPak Plus.

Compatible with SpeedBox app.

Important: The manufacturer recommends NOT to carry out any updates on the e-bike.
