SpeedBox 3.0 B.Tuning for Specialized (incl. Specialized SL)

This third-generation tuning chip combines the SpeedBox 3.0 tuning module with the practical SpeedBox app. The Max Speed can be individually customised. You can use the app not only to control the tuning, but also to monitor and record your riding data. There are also other interesting additional features such as an engine lock or the option to hide the tuning.

With the SpeedBox 3.0, you can completely remove the speed limit of Specialized e-bikes with TCU/TCD units (including Specialized SL). In addition, the maximum speed can even be set to an individual value. This means you can finally make the most of the motor power of your Specialized drive and ride much faster than 25 km/h with motor support.

The tuning is conveniently operated via the app, whereby the connection between the app and tuning module is wireless using Bluetooth technology. However, all important functions (e.g. switching on and off, setting the maximum speed) can also be controlled very simply using the operating buttons on the e-bike - so it is not necessary to take your smartphone with you on every ride.

Even when tuning is activated, the e-bike display shows the correct values (speed, distance, range, etc.).

A major advantage of the SpeedBox 3.0 is its simple installation. Unlike most other tuning modules, the module is not installed in the engine compartment, but under the TCU/TCD unit directly in the e-bike frame.

The SpeedBox 3.0 does not require its own battery.

Tuning activation

Tuning can be activated by switching the E-Bike off and on again twice. The tuning then remains permanently activated. By default, the maximum speed is set to 50 km/h (recognisable by the short 50 km/h indicator on the display). All riding parameters can be conveniently monitored via the SpeedBox app.

The maximum speed that can actually be reached depends on various factors, e.g. rider weight and cadence.

Setting the maximum speed

You can easily set the desired maximum speed via the SpeedBox app. Alternatively, there is also a manual option for setting the maximum speed:

Switch the modes from TURBO mode three steps down and then three steps up again (TURBO - TRAIL - ECO - OFF - ECO - TRAIL - TURBO). The display will then show a maximum assisted speed of 25 km/h. By simply pressing the WALK button, the max speed can be increased in 5 km/h increments (some display types may round to whole numbers). After five seconds of inactivity, the last saved limit is stored. Now the set limit only needs to be confirmed by switching the e-bike off and on twice.

The currently set maximum speed can be checked at any time by entering the key combination + - + -.

SpeedBox App

This "B.Tuning" version of the SpeedBox 3.0 tuning chip can be connected to the specially developed SpeedBox app via Bluetooth. You benefit from various practical features and your performance can be monitored much better.

By the way, the SpeedBox app displays absolutely accurate data that is read directly from the e-bike's control unit. Most sports apps, on the other hand, only use rough estimates, meaning that the data displayed deviates from the real data of the e-bike by up to 20 per cent.

-Invisible tuning: In this mode, tuning can no longer be switched on via the e-bike's control buttons (only via the app).

-Display and storage of ride data: Well-organised database of your own trips to monitor your personal performance. Real values displayed.

-Motor diagnostics: View the real technical data of your e-bike on the display.

-Motor lock: Temporarily switch off the e-bike motor via the app, making unauthorised access to the bike more difficult.

-Adjust the wheel circumference.

Installation

Installation of the SpeedBox 3.0 is very simple, as the module is not installed in the engine compartment, as is the case with other tuning modules, but in the frame of the e-bike under the TCU/TCD unit.

The connection to the e-bike is made very simply via the plugs on the RedPed 3 module. The TCU/TCD unit must be temporarily removed for installation.

Important: If you install the SpeedBox in a brand new E-Bike, you must first ride at least 10 kilometres on the bike before activating the tuning for the first time.

-The SpeedBox can be uninstalled at any time.

-If you want to uninstall the SpeedBox again, you must reset the maximum speed to 25 km/h beforehand.

SpeedBox 3.0 B.Tuning for Specialised - Compatibility

Compatible with:

-Specialized e-bike motors (incl. SL motors) with TCU / TCD units.

-Here is an exemplary selection of Specialized e-bike drives that are compatible, provided they are equipped with a TCU/TCD unit (NOT Mastermind TCU):

ATTENTION: NOT compatible with Specialized SL models equipped with TCU MASTERMIND!

TCU Mastermind is used on various SL models, e.g. on:

-Specialized Levo SL (with Specialized SL 1.1 motor)

Updating the software

We generally advise against carrying out software updates on E-bikes, as the tuning may no longer work properly afterwards.

If you still want to update the software of your Specialized E-Bike, you should proceed as follows:

-First, you need to set the Max Speed to 25 km/h. To do this, gradually switch the mode down three levels and then up three levels. To confirm the setting, the e-bike must then be switched off and on again twice.

-Switch the E-Bike off again and remove the SpeedBox from the frame of the E-Bike.

-Update the software.

-Reinstall the SpeedBox and activate it by switching the E-Bike off and on twice.
