SpeedBox 1.3 for Shimano EP8

The SpeedBox 1.3 completely removes the 25 km/h speed limit of e-bikes with Shimano EP8 drives, which means that you can ride much faster with full motor support. It is therefore a tuning tool in the classic sense. This tuning chip has been revised and comes in a completely new design, including new hardware and firmware. The chip must be plugged into the e-tube connection on the motor.

Note: If you have a Shimano e-bike without a free e-tube connection, please choose the variant +e-tube port. This is usually the case with Shimano e-bikes with one of the following components:

-Satellite System ON/OFF Switch

-Di2 derailleur

Important note: The manufacturer recommends not exceeding a speed of 35 km/h to avoid error W011. For B.Tuning models, the maximum speed can be set accordingly in the SpeedBox app.

Tuning can be switched on and off

After installing the chip, you can activate and deactivate the tuning with the light button on the e-bike. When the light is turned off, the tuning is active and you can ride at unlimited speed (light off = tuning on). As soon as you switch the light on again, the tuning chip is deactivated and the motor support ends at 25 km/h (light on = tuning off), just as it would normally.

By the way, you can also use the tuning completely independently of the light function. In this case, you simply do not have to connect the red plug during installation, then the tuning is always switched on. If the e-bike does not have a light function, the tuning is also always active.

Please note: When the tuning is active, the e-bike display will only show the correct data up to 23 km/h. If you do not want to ride without a correct display of data such as the current speed, we recommend GPS-capable additional devices such as smartphones. It is best to mount your mobile phone directly on the handlebars so that you have a good view of the riding parameters. You can find inexpensive mounts in our shop.

Installation

The SpeedBox 1.3 is a module or tuning chip that has to be connected to the connectors at the engine. To gain access to the connectors, you must temporarily remove the plastic cover of the engine. Unlike earlier versions of the SpeedBox, the SpeedBox 1.3 must be plugged into the E-Tube connector of the motor.

SpeedBox only uses original connectors in the production of the chips, so that installation is as uncomplicated as possible. With a little technical skill, you can also install the tuning chip yourself.

If necessary, you can remove the chip again at any time to restore the e-bike to its original condition.

Please note: If you want to install the SpeedBox chip in a brand new e-bike, you must first ride the e-bike for at least 1 km before starting the tuning chip for the first time.

SpeedBox 1.3 for Shimano EP8 - Compatibility

This tuning tool is compatible with Shimano EP8 or EP-8 e-bike motors.

Compatible with Giant Revolt E+ e-bikes from 2022/2023 with EP8 motors.

Not compatible with the SpeedBox app.

Not compatible with e-bikes with Di2 (electronic gear shifting).

Not compatible with Satellite System ON/OFF Switch (EW-SW100, EW-SW300).

Important: Only compatible with EP-8(00) - Not compatible with EP-801 !

Note: If you have a Shimano e-bike without a free E-Tube connection, please select the "+E-Tube Port" variant. This is usually the case for Shimano e-bikes with one of the following components:

-Di2 derailleur
