A high-end tuning tool with app especially for Haibike e-bikes with Yamaha PW-X3 and PW-S2 motors.

The RedPed 3 is probably one of the tuning solutions with the most optimisation options. This module is compatible with the practical RedPed app, which enables an extremely wide range of setting options. The app can also be used to display numerous parameters, which are much more extensive than on the usual Yamaha displays. This allows you to monitor your personal performance much better.

The core function of the RedPed 3 tuning module is the unlocking of the e-bike, i.e. the cancellation of the 25 km/h speed limit. This gives you the opportunity to ride much faster with full motor support. The app can even be used to set the maximum assisted speed to a desired value. There are also other original features such as the "speed offset" or the "workshop mode". These are truly unique features that are only available in this form with the RedPed module. All this with the correct speed shown on the display.

By the way: As the RedPed 3 Tuning can also be conveniently switched on and off using the e-bike's control buttons, you don't need to take your smartphone with you on every ride. Basically, all you need to do is make the desired settings on the module once using the RedPed app. Keep in mind, however, that you can use the app to display many useful riding parameters - more than the Yamaha displays have to offer.

RedPed 3 - Functions & features at a glance

-Removal of the 25 km/h speed limit: Ride much faster with full motor support.

-Customise the maximum speed. The maximum speed can be set to an individual value via the RedPed app, from 15 km/h to 45 km/h (please note that the 45 km/h is a theoretically achievable maximum speed, the real achievable speed depends on various factors such as chainring, motor & payload).

-Display of detailed riding data via the RedPedApp (see below).

-Tuning can be switched on and off, either via the app or using the operating buttons on the e-bike (e.g. using the light button).

-Tuning activation with app: Here you can set whether the tuning should only be active for one ride or always active as soon as you switch on the E-Bike.

-Correct values in the e-bike display. Even when tuning is active, the display shows values such as the current speed and the distance travelled correctly.

-Speed Offset: This function can be used to reduce the speed shown on the display by up to -15 km/h. Example: If you set a value of -10 km/h and are travelling at (e.g.) 35 km/h, your display will still only show 25 km/h, etc.

-Visibility: Use this feature to set how long the RedPed module should be visible in the RedPed app after the e-bike has been switched on. This allows you to prevent unauthorised access to the RedPed.

-Troll mode: In this mode, communication between the motor and display is disconnected if the smartphone does not connect to the RedPed module within the time you set yourself. An error then occurs in the e-bike display (the bike continues to ride, however, with assistance in emergency mode). The error can be rectified by removing the module or the battery. This function can make life difficult for people who have access to the E-Bike but are not actually supposed to ride it.

-Workshop mode: Once this mode has been set, the CAN BUS data will no longer be manipulated by the RedPed module. This mode is very practical if you have to take your e-bike to the workshop.

-Divide speed at: Set how the speed is to be divided internally (10-24 km/h). The higher the value, the better. However, if the value is set too high, the motor assistance will stop before the maximum speed is reached. In this case, the value must be reduced again.

-Tuning timer: This deactivates the tuning after a user-defined time.

-Set PIN: This protects the RedPed from unauthorised access.

-Set a personalised module name.

-Enter the wheel diameter (18.7" - 31.2").

-Reset possible.

-Correct mileage after removal of the tuning module

Data display via app

With the RedPed app, you can not only define the settings of the RedPed module, you can also display many useful riding parameters while cycling. You also have the option of adapting the display to your personal preferences - e.g. you can hide values or change the colours of certain values. You can also change the font size in the settings (Android) or zoom into the speedometer (iPhone).

Here are the most important driving parameters displayed:

-Tuning status (on/off)

-Selected assistance level

-Speed in km/h (current, average value, maximum in one line)

-Crank speed in RPM (current, average value, maximum in one line)

-Crank torque in Nm (current, average value, maximum in one line)

-Rider power in watts (current, average value, maximum in one line)

-Motor power in percent (current, average value, maximum in one line)

-Battery charge level in per cent

-Range in kilometres

-Duration (Riding time) in minutes

-Number of charging cycles of the battery

-KCAL of the driver

-Distance in km (distance currently travelled)

-Mileage of the RedPed module

Our tip: To make sure you can keep an eye on all your data when you're out and about, you should simply attach your smartphone to the handlebars. You can find suitable mounts in bicycle stores.

RedPed 3 module - installation & functionality

The RedPed 3 module must be connected between the speed sensor and the motor as well as between the motor and the display; it is usually placed in the connection area of the motor (sometimes it is also necessary to place it in the frame tube). To gain access to the required plug connections during installation, the protective cover of the motor must be removed briefly. The RedPed does not require its own battery as it is powered by the e-bike battery.

After installation, the RedPed module measures the actual speed and generates its own, lower speed signal. When the bike is switched on, the module disconnects the communication between the motor control unit and the e-bike display so that its own manipulated data can be sent to the display. This makes it possible to exceed the 25 km/h speed limit, allowing you to ride much faster with full motor support.

Compatibility

This tuning tool is compatible with Haibike e-bikes with the following Yamaha Powerdrive (PW) motors from 2023 onwards:

-Yamaha PW-X3

-Yamaha PW-S2

These motors are mainly used on Haibike e-bikes. Some model series in which the aforementioned motors are used include Haibike XDURO AllMtn, XDURO Nduro & XDURO Trekking.

Not compatible with Yamaha PW-SE, PW-X, PW-TE, PW-CE, PW-X2 & PW-ST.
