RedPed 2plus for Shimano E-Series (even with Di2)

This tuning for Shimano e-bikes is highly versatile, as it combines the proven RedPed module with the practical RedPed app. This results in a particularly wide range of optimisation options which goes well beyond simply removing the speed limit. This gives you the possibility to optimally adapt the characteristics of your e-bike to your requirements. The RedPed 2plus offers significantly more features than conventional tuning tools for Shimano e-bikes.

As the RedPed 2plus is a module to be connected to the e-bike, no extra battery is required (power is supplied via a display socket on the bike).

Important innovation: With the previous "RedPed 2 for Shimano" module, an additional 4-way distributor + cable were required if there was no longer a free display socket in the motor. With the new "RedPed 2plus" this is no longer necessary, as the module has been equipped with an additional cable and a new socket.

This means: If both Di2 sockets of the motor are occupied with plugs, you can now plug one of them into the new socket of the RedPed 2plus module (the socket says "Display"). This frees up one socket of the motor for the RedPed 2plus, making a 4-way distributor superfluous.

RedPed 2plus for Shimano E-series - Features

-Remove the 25 km/h speed limit, which allows you to ride much faster with full motor support.

-Setting the maximum speed: Via the app you can set the maximum supported speed to an individual value, from 15 km/h to 45 km/h ( 45 km/h is the theoretical maximum speed, the real achievable speed depends on other factors, e.g. chainring and motor).

-Display of detailed riding parameters via the app (see below).

-Set an individual activation code via the RedPed app. Set a 6-digit PIN to protect the module from unauthorised access.

-Set module name (9-digit).

-Tuning can be switched on and off via the app or using the light button. You can set how often the light has to be switched on and off to activate tuning (press 0-20 times).

-Use the app to set whether the tuning should only be active for one ride or always.

Tuning Timer: This function deactivates the tuning after a self-set time (between 10 and 180 seconds).

-Visibility": Set how long the module should be detectable in the app after the e-bike has been switched on. This can prevent unauthorised access by third parties.

-Combination for visibility": Here you can set how often the light must be switched on and off to make the module visible.

- "Split speed at": Set how the speed is to be split (10-24 km/h).

-Optional correct mileage after the RedPed 2plus module has been removed again. As the module is always on, the kilometres are counted correctly in the app.

Please note: When tuning is activated, the e-bike display will only show half of the real speed. Mileage and range will also not be calculated correctly.However, you can have the correct data displayed via the app. We therefore recommend that you attach your smartphone directly to the handlebars when you are on the road so that you have a good view of it. You can find suitable "holders" in our shop.

By the way, it is not necessary to take the e-bike with you on every ride, as you can switch the tuning on and off not only via the app, but also via the control buttons on the e-bike (light button). In principle, it is sufficient to define the desired settings of the tuning module once.

Attention: Please do not carry out any updates on your Shimano e-bike so that the functionality of the tuning is not endangered.

Data display via RedPed app

With the RedPed app, you can not only define the tuning settings, you can also display useful riding parameters while on the road. By means of individual adjustments, the display can be optimised to your needs and made clearer - for example, you can hide values or change the colours of columns and rows. You can also change the font size (Android) or zoom into the speedometer (iPhone).

RedPed 2plus for Shimano E-Series - Installation & Functionality

RedPed 2plus is a module that needs to be connected between the motor and the speed sensor. After installation, the module will measure the current speed and generate a lower speed signal for the motor control unit so that the 25 km/h speed limit is outsmarted respectively cancelled. This allows much faster riding with full motor support.

Since access to the connectors on the engine is required to connect the RedPed 2 module, the engine cover must be temporarily removed.

Depending on the motor type, special tools may be required to install the module, e.g. for the Shimano Steps E8000 motor you will need a 2.5 mm Allen key and a Phillips screwdriver. Other tools may also be necessary.

Important note: Due to the way the RedPed module works, certain values are calculated incorrectly by the engine control unit, e.g. the mileage. However, the correct values can be read out via the smartphone using the RedPed app.

RedPed 2plus for Shimano E-Series - Compatibility

The RedPed 2plus for Shimano E-Series tuning module is compatible with the following Shimano Steps e-bike motors:

E5000, E6000, E6100, E7000, E8000.

Compatible with Di2.
