MBIQ-P for ANANDA & MOMAS & AEG Comfort Drive V2

A tuning chip for various ANANDA (M60 / M81, M100 / M230, M1000 / M4000 / M5000 / M6100) and MOMAS (Ultra 70 / 80 / 110 Ultralight, Pro, Turbo / Turbo+) mid-mounted engines (see below for exact compatibility). Now also compatible with AEG Comfort Drive V2.

The MBIQ-P Tuning Tool is a microcontroller-based plug-in solution for removing the 25 km/h speed limit. By means of certain wheel movements when switching on the E-Bike, an individual maximum speed can even be set if required.

When tuning is active, the e-bike display no longer shows correct speed values from approx. 22 km/h onwards (the displayed speed is ‘frozen’).

Installation

The MBIQ-P simply needs to be plugged in between the speed sensor and the motor control unit. To gain access to the required plug connections, the engine cover must be temporarily removed. To optimise the connection, the tuning is equipped with the same connectors.

After installation, the tuning is not visible from the outside. Due to the large differences in the various drive systems, it is not possible to define a generally valid installation location. In most cases, the module can be stowed directly in the connection area of the motor, but sometimes the module can also be stowed in the frame tube (although this usually requires the frame to be detached from the motor).

Please note: A hexagon socket is required to remove the motor cover; depending on the model, a Torx key may also be required. For drives with a full side cover, you will also need a crank puller for installation. This is not the case for e-bikes with a split side cover (e.g. Ananda M230).

You can remove the MBIQ-P at any time if you want to restore the bike to its original condition.

The electronics of the MBIQ-P are safely encapsulated in the housing, so the tuning is absolutely waterproof.

How it works

After connection, the MBIQ-P processes the current speed profile and forwards manipulated values, which leads to the preset 25 km/h limit being cancelled. There is no direct intervention in the system communication.

However, when tuning is active, it should be noted that the speed display (depending on the model) is ‘frozen’ from approx. 20-22 km/h (there is no speed halving, as is the case with some other tuning tools). The total kilometres are also correspondingly lower.

Tip: Simply use a GPS-enabled smartphone to display the correct speed when you are travelling. You can find suitable handlebar mounts in stores.

The MBIQ-P does not require its own battery and the tuning is completely maintenance-free.

Programming

The MBIQ-P can be programmed to a certain extent without any additional devices such as a PC or smartphone. Instead, programming is carried out by means of certain wheel movements when the e-bike is started up, whereby the spoke magnet must be guided along the speed sensor.

Three different operating modes can be set in this way:

Mode 1: Tuning permanently activated (default setting, speed limit is completely cancelled).

Mode 2: Tuning permanently deactivated (motor support only up to 25 km/h).

Mode 3: Tuning according to switch-on condition (when switching on, a magnet can be used to spontaneously determine whether the tuning should be active or not: during start-up, the magnet must be in front of the sensor for at least 4 seconds, otherwise the tuning remains deactivated / the mode can be deactivated while driving).

The desired max speed is also set using special wheel movements. Detailed operating instructions are included.

Important: Depending on the display and sensor type, the programming options may be limited on some e-bike models - for example, there are e-bikes with no speed display at all.

To avoid this problem, the MBIQ-P has been equipped with an additional cable loop. If programming is not possible on your bike (for the reasons just mentioned), mode 3 can be set by opening the cable loop (‘Tuning according to switch-on condition’).

However, the cable loop is always closed when delivered and tuning is permanently activated (= speed limit cancelled). It is therefore NOT absolutely necessary to carry out any programming!

The MBIQ-P works independently of the display used.

In addition, the tool is compatible with all common engine firmwares from the manufacturers; the manipulated values do not affect the analysis of the engine software.
