Badass Box 4 for Bosch Slim Set

Important: You only need this set if the Bosch Slim Sensor is attached to the chainstay with the original adapter (first picture), or has been integrated into the dropout of your e-bike (second picture).

If the Bosch sensor (third picture) is mounted on your chainstay and easily accessible, you only need the normal Badass Box 4 for Bosch e-bike motors.

No more limits! The Badass Box 4 completely removes the 25 km/h speed limit of your Bosch motor, so you can finally use the full potential of your drive. If necessary, the original state of the e-bike can be quickly restored at any time.

This tuning tool is powered by an included AAA battery. The battery only needs to be changed about once a year, or after a distance of about 7,000 km (suitable replacement batteries can be found everywhere in stores).

Please note: When tuning is active (box connected), the e-bike display will functionally show an incorrect speed, which also applies to values derived from it. Our tip: Simply use GPS-enabled additional devices such as bike computers or your smartphone to display the actual speed. Suitable mounts for the handlebar are available at a reasonable price in our store.

Thanks to a special potting compound from the automotive industry, the Badass Box 4 is optimally protected against moisture and mechanical stress. Each Badass Box 4 is tested for correct function before and after potting.

Installation

The Bosch Slim Sensor is either mounted on the chainstay or integrated into the dropout.

Please note that a few modifications are necessary to install the Slim set. Please look at the installation instructions below first and only then decide if you want to order the product:

In this case, the slim speed sensor ("Slim Sensor") is classically mounted with an adapter on the chain stay. There, the sensor must be detached from the adapter. You have to unscrew the original adapter and replace it with the badass adapter.

Here again, the slim speed sensor ("Slim Sensor") is integrated near the rear axle. Therefore, you have to remove the complete rear wheel to install the tuning. Then you have to remove the sensor from the bracket and attach it, with the adapter by means of cable ties, at a suitable location on the chainstay.

How it works

After installation, the Badass Box 4 transmits a modified signal to the engine, which cancels the preset 25 km/h speed limit. This happens contactless without any electrical connection to the motor, so no damage to the drive is possible.

Badass Box 4 for Bosch Slim-Set - Compatibility

E-bikes with Bosch mid-mounted motors: Classic Line, Active Line, Performance Line, CX Line & Active Line Plus (Gen1, Gen2, Gen3). Also compatible with Bosch Gen4 (model year 2020 / 2021). Not compatible with Bosch Smart System 2022 (BES3)!

Tip: Bosch Smart System e-bikes (BES3) can be easily recognised by the charging cable plug, among other things.

SQUARE plug = Bosch Smart System BES3 (Gen4) + Bosch Gen5:

ROUND plug = Bosch Gen2, Gen3 & Gen4:

If your Bosch e-bike charging cable has a round plug (as shown above), you have selected the correct tuning module (provided the bike does not have ABS). If your Bosch e-bike does not have either connector, you either do NOT have a Bosch e-bike or an e-bike with the old Gen1 drive (Classic Line).

Please note: It is not allowed to operate the Badass Box 4 on public roads or within the scope of the StVZO. This tuning tool may only be used on private property or for competition / testing purposes. If you install the Badass Box on your e-bike / pedelec, the warranty of your electric bike may expire.
