The SpeedBox 1.2 B.Tuning chip removes the 25 km/h speed limit from Bosch Smart System (BES3) e-bikes with a rim magnet, allowing you to ride much faster with full motor support. On the road, you can monitor your real speed in the SpeedBox app on the display of your smartphone.
With the SpeedBox 1.2 B.Tuning Chip, you can even set the desired top speed to an individual value. However, you should not set a value above 35 km/h, as this could trigger the Bosch anti-tuning software.
SpeedBox 1.2 B.Tuning for Bosch Smart System e-bikes with rim magnet is manufactured in the Czech Republic.
Tuning can be activated / deactivated
After connecting the chip, you can easily switch the tuning on and off via the app.
The tuning chip is easy to operate. Tuning can not only be switched on via the SpeedBox app, but also by briefly pressing the WALK function (press and hold the "-" button). For confirmation, the E-Bike display briefly shows the value 3.5 km/h (2.2 mph). This indicates that tuning has been activated and the 25 km/h limit has been cancelled.
To switch off the tuning, simply press the WALK function again briefly (press and hold the "-" button). The value 2.5 km/h (1.6 mph) is briefly shown on the display - this indicates that tuning has been deactivated; the speed limit is back to 25 km/h.
There are also e-bikes on which the WALK function is not available or active. In this case, tuning can also be switched on and off by double-switching between two modes, i.e. by pressing the - + - + button combination.
Tuning should always be switched on and off before the ride and not during the ride!
The manufacturer SpeedBox also advises leaving the Bosch e-bike switched on after the end of the ride until the SpeedBox has completed the "countdown" in order to avoid any tuning detection (the countdown is indicated by continuing the ride time on the display until it stops and the correct total distance is finally displayed).
Setting the maximum speed
The maximum speed can be set via the SpeedBox app if required.
Alternatively, you can also change the maximum supported speed by switching the modes - starting from TURBO mode - three steps down and then three steps up again: TURBO - eMTB - TOUR+ - ECO - TOUR+ - eMTB - TURBO. The current speed limit is then displayed. The speed limit can be reset by briefly pressing the WALK function or turning the rear wheel 360°. A displayed speed of 2.5 km/h would correspond to a maximum speed of 25 km/h, 3.0 would be 30 km/h, 3.5 would correspond to 35 km/h, etc. The last displayed speed limit is saved after 15 seconds of inactivity.
The manufacturer advises not to exceed a maximum speed of 35 km/h.
SpeedBox App for SpeedBox 1.2 B.Tuning for Bosch
The SpeedBox app was specially developed for SpeedBox B.Tuning. The connection between e-bike and smartphone is done wirelessly using Bluetooth technology. Once you have downloaded the app and paired your e-bike and smartphone, you can view numerous current riding parameters on the smartphone display. You can save all your rides and compare them with friends. Your performance can be monitored precisely thanks to the app. Enjoy the ride and simply save the parameter check for later.

By the way: With the SpeedBox B.Tuning Chip, the use of the SpeedBox App is by no means mandatory. However, the app is a great accessory with many advantages.
We recommend: Before you order the SpeedBox B.Tuning chip, you should first download the app to your mobile phone on a trial basis. You can then use the demo version to familiarise yourself with all the features. In addition, you will then know for sure whether the app runs on your smartphone (Bluetooth 4.0 or higher required).
Installation
SpeedBox 1.2 B.Tuning is a tuning chip that must be firmly connected to the plug connections on the e-bike drive. Original connectors are used in the production of the tuning chip, which ensures that the connection is as simple and correct as possible.
When you start the SpeedBox app for the first time, you will be asked to set a PIN. You must enter this PIN each time you start the SpeedBox app. Once you have confirmed the PIN, you will also be asked to set a service password (super PIN). You can use the password if you have forgotten the PIN or want to change it.
If you install a SpeedBox 1.2 B.Tuning chip in a brand new E-Bike, you must ride at least 10 km on the E-Bike before you switch on the chip for the first time.
Important
Connect the plugs in the direction of the lock and do not rotate the connectors when plugging them in!
Important information - Please note:
-A maximum speed of 35 km/h should not be exceeded.
-SpeedBox recommends not updating the software of the Bosch e-bike.
-The activation or deactivation of the tuning chip should always be done before the ride and not during the ride.
-Leave the e-bike switched on for a while after the end of the ride until the SpeedBox has finished the "countdown" (indicated by the continuation of the ride time on the display until it stops and the correct ride distance is displayed) to avoid tuning detection by the Bosch software.
-If you want to install a SpeedBox 1.2 B.Tuning chip in a brand new E-Bike, you must first ride at least 10 km on the E-Bike before activating the chip for the first time.
-During short breaks, you should keep one foot on the pedal to prevent the "countdown" from starting so that you can continue riding seamlessly.
-During longer stops, you should at least allow a partial "countdown" (deduction of kilometres) to take place.
-Do not remove the display from the bike until the "countdown" (deduction of kilometres) is complete.
Compatibility
The tuning chip is only compatible with Bosch Smart System (incl. Bosch SX) e-bikes with rim magnet. Bosch Smart System e-bikes are sometimes also referred to as "BES3" ("Bosch development stage 3").
-Compatible with all motors that are used with the Bosch Smart System, e.g. Performance Line (CX / CX Race / SX). Also compatible with Bosch SX motors!
-Compatible with all displays that are used with Bosch Smart System e-bikes.
-Compatible with SpeedBox app.
-Compatible with Bosch software version 11.13.0 / 12.13.0. Important note: Compatibility with software version 11.13.0 / 12.13.0 is only guaranteed for SpeedBox Tuning modules ordered after May 2024. We strongly advise against updating to software version 11.13.0 / 12.13.0 for SpeedBoxes ordered before this date! In this case, the update could lead to incompatibilities with the SpeedBox Tuning.
Not compatible with:
-Bosch Smart System e-bikes with standard magnet (brake disc magnet spoke magnet).
-Bosch Smart System e-bikes with ABS system.
Important: As of Bosch firmware 9.13.0 of the Drive Unit (DU), compatibility is very limited. Therefore, this Speedbox is not compatible with Bosch firmware 9.13.0 for the time being. This also applies to other solutions for the Bosch rim magnet on the market.
Attention: Please note that the warranty for SpeedBox products does not apply to malfunctions caused by updating the motor. So please do not install any Bosch updates!
Tip: Bosch Smart System e-bikes (BES3) can be easily recognised by the charging cable plug, among other things.

If your Bosch e-bike charging cable has a square plug (as shown above), you have selected the correct tuning module (provided the bike does not have ABS or a standard magnet). If your Bosch e-bike does not have either connector, you either do NOT have a Bosch e-bike or an e-bike with the old Gen1 drive (Classic Line).

Shipping costs
The shipping costs for Germany are 3,50 Euro. The shipping costs are waived from an order value of 180 Euro. For countries within the EU the shipping costs are 9,90 Euro. The shipping costs are waived from an order value of 300 Euro. We ask you to cover the cost of any return shipment yourself. Please note that customs fees may apply in third countries outside the European Union.
Minimum order value
The minimum order value is 25 Euro. Only from this amount you can use prepayment or PayPal and bank transfer as payment methods.
Maximum order value
The maximum order value for orders outside the EU is 1.000 Euro. The maximum order value within the EU is 12.500 Euro.
