Please note: The Badass Box 4 for Yamaha is only compatible with the sensor shown above, which is easily accessible on the chain stay.

If there is no sensor on the chain stay, the sensor is integrated in the dropout - then you need either the "Badass Box 4 Yamaha X-Set" or the "Badass Box 4 for Giant 2020", depending on the sensor.

The latest and so far best version of the Badass Box especially for e-bikes with Yamaha mid-engines. With this tuning tool, the 25 km/h limitation of the motor support can be completely removed in no time at all. If necessary, the e-bike can be returned to its original state at any time.

How it works

After the box has been installed and plugged in next to the speed sensor, it transmits a modified signal to the motor. This allows the preset speed limit to be exceeded. This means that (theoretically) unlimited speed values can be reached, with full motor support. The transmission of the modified signal is contactless and without electrical connection to the motor, so that damage to the drive is absolutely impossible.

Please note: As soon as the tuning has been activated (Badass Box plugged in), the e-bike display no longer shows the correct speed (this also applies to values derived from it). We therefore recommend using GPS-based additional devices to determine the real speed, which are usually more accurate anyway (e.g. smartphone, bike computer).

The most sophisticated Badass Box of all times

Compared to its predecessors, the new Badass Box 4 is equipped with various improvements that have optimised this tuning tool in many respects: The housing of the box is now significantly slimmer, so that there can no longer be any installation situations that are too tight. Thanks to a new, patented snap lock, the Badass Box can now be fitted and removed more quickly than ever before (the snap lock replaces the previously used O-ring). In addition - at the special request of the customer - an additional optional fastening device via cable ties has been provided on the snap lock.

There is also another significant improvement in terms of range: the previous CR2 battery has been replaced by a AAA battery which, thanks to the specially developed and patented FEET field enhancement & elimination technology, has a range of over 7,000 kilometres or 1 year (due to battery discharge). Of course, the battery can be changed easily at any time, without any tools. Appropriate AAA batteries can be bought on practically every corner.

In addition, the electronics of the box are glued and sealed into the housing with a special potting compound, so that the best possible protection against mechanical stress and moisture is guaranteed. By the way, every Badass Box is tested for correct functionality before and after potting as part of the manufacturing process.

Badass Box 4 for Yamaha - Installation

Since the Badass Box 4 for Yamaha does not require the engine to be opened, the installation of this tuning tool is simple. The Badass Box 4 must be fitted over the Yamaha speed sensor next to the rear wheel. Engage the snap lock so that the box is securely adjusted to the sensor. Optionally, you can also secure the box with a cable tie.

When mounting the box for the first time, replace the original magnet with the spoke magnet supplied. This spoke magnet works without the Badass Box in the same way as the original magnet, but it is necessary so that the patented field amplification technology can function properly with a Badass Box attached. After the Badass Box has been attached to the sensor, the spoke magnet must be moved towards the edge of the housing in the direction of the snap lock. When the spoke magnet touches the box, place it as close as possible to the Badass Box and turn it 90° - the tuning is activated and the 25 km/h speed limit has been lifted!

To deactivate the tuning, simply remove Badass Box 4 again. Then move the spoke magnet back to its original position and the e-bike is back in its original state (limitation of motor support to 25 km/h).

Tip: Replace the spoke magnet screw with a new one.
