MTT SpecB: Mountain Tuning for Specialized
This practical tuning sensor completely removes the 25 km/h speed limit of numerous Specialized / Brose e-bike motors, e.g. from models from series such as Levo, Kenevo, Como, Tero and Vado. You can finally use the full potential of your drive, and the annoying speed limit is a thing of the past. Of course, the original condition of your e-bike can be restored at any time if you want to use it legally on public roads again.
With the MTT, three different operating modes can be set, allowing you to switch the tuning on and off. There is even the option to individually set the level of the assistance speed limit. This is done via certain wheel movements when raising the e-bike; you don't need a PC or smartphone to do this.
With active tuning, the e-bike display will no longer show the correct speed above 25 km/h. Our tip: To display the real speed when you are on the road, you can simply use GPS-enabled additional devices such as your smartphone. The best thing is to attach your mobile phone directly to the handlebars so that you always have the data in view. Practical mounts are available directly from our shop.
The MTT SpecB does not need its own power supply, so an extra battery is not required.
Made in Germany.
Three different operating modes
With the MTT, three different operating modes can be set by means of certain wheel movements when starting up your e-bike (whereby the spoke magnet is moved past the MTT sensor). This allows you to switch the tuning on and off as needed. However, programming an operating mode is optional and is by no means mandatory. When delivered, the MTT is always in "Tuning permanently active" mode after installation, with the highest support speed limit.
The following operating modes are available for selection:
-Tuning permanently active (factory setting): The speed limit is cancelled, correct speed display only up to 25 km/h. At a speed ≤25km/h, the MTT generates manipulated values for the engine software.
-Permanent tuning deactivated: Speed limit is not cancelled (engine support up to 25 km/h). Correct speed indication in the display.
-Tuning after switch-on condition: In this operating mode, you can decide spontaneously when switching on the bike whether the tuning should be active or not. To activate the tuning, the magnet must be at least 4 seconds in front of the sensor when the e-bike is started up, otherwise the tuning remains deactivated.
You even have the option of individually setting the maximum assistance speed by moving the wheel when switching on the bike. To do this, the wheel must be moved and the sensor must be moved past the magnet.
Functionality
The functional principle of the MTT SpecB is based on a fixed division of the actual speed impulses by a factor of 2 or 3 (however, only from speeds above walking speed, in order not to interfere with a possibly existing WALK mode). In this way, the preset 25 km/h speed limit is outsmarted respectively cancelled.
Due to this operating principle, the correct speed is no longer shown on the e-bike display at speeds above 25 km/h. The total kilometre display will also no longer correspond to the actual distance travelled.
Installation
The Specialized e-bikes are equipped with a sensor to detect the current speed (the sensor receives impulses from a magnet on the brake disc for each wheel revolution). To install the tuning tool, you need to replace the original sensor with the MTT sensor. This requires some minor manual work:
First you have to remove the cover on the engine to gain access to the plug connections (pull off the speed sensor cable). The connection is made via compatible connectors.
The original sensor is located on the rear frame, possibly next to the quick-release axle. The sensor end is fixed in a holder which you have to unscrew to remove it.
Remove the sensor from the holder. Insert the MTT sensor instead and refit the bracket. If threading the new sensor cable proves difficult, you can thread a pull wire into the cable as you pull it out. When everything is done, you can put the housing cover back on.

Important: Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads. Legally permissible use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Driving an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license as well as driving without insurance coverage. Tuning measures on the e-bike and e-scooter can lead to a loss of warranty rights and manufacturer warranties. In addition, tuning measures can lead to a loss of insurance coverage and accident victim assistance benefits in the event of accidents. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is exposed to an additional load due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
