MBIQ-S for Shimano EP-8 / DU-EP800

A microcontroller-based tuning sensor for Shimano Steps and Shimano EP8 e-bike mid-mounted motors (also DU-EP800). With this tuning tool, the 25 km/h limitation of the motor support can be completely removed, so that you can finally use the full potential of the powerful Shimano drives. For installation, the speed sensor of the e-bike must be replaced with the MBIQ-S.

This tuning tool is completely maintenance-free and does not require its own battery.

How it works

After connection, the MBIQ-S will analyse the current speed profile and - if tuning is active - pass on manipulated values. In doing so, speeds of more than 25 km/h will be blocked for the motor firmware, which results in the cancellation of the speed limit.

Important: Due to this functional principle, the e-bike display will only show manipulated values from a speed of 22 km/h to 25 km/h when tuning is active (the displayed speed will then always be ≤ 25 km/h, even if you ride faster in reality).

Three operating modes programmable

With the MBIQ-S, three operating modes can be selected, allowing the tuning to be switched on and off. Programming is done via certain wheel movements when the e-bike is switched on. The set operating mode is indicated by different speed values on the display. The following operating modes can be selected:

-Tuning permanently activated (the speed limit is permanently removed, from approx. 22-25 km/h the displayed speed no longer corresponds to the real speed).

-Tuning permanently deactivated (the speed limit is not cancelled, engine support up to 25 km/h with real speed display).

-Activation after switch-on condition: To switch on tuning, the magnet must be in front of the sensor for at least 4 seconds during start-up, otherwise tuning is deactivated.

Installation

This tuning tool is a replacement sensor: This means that the existing sensor of the e-bike must be replaced with the MBIQ-S. Since the Tuning Tool has been equipped with compatible connectors, installation is relatively easy. However, depending on the model, it may be necessary to loosen the motor in order to pull out the required sensor cable. In addition, the MBIQ-S must be pulled through the frame for installation.

Since the MBIQ-S looks very similar to the original sensor, the appearance of the bike is hardly changed. Tip: Simply keep the original sensor so that you can restore your bike to its original condition if necessary.

MBIQ-S for Shimano EP-8 / DU-EP800 - Compatibility

This tuning tool is compatible with the following Shimano E-Bike mid-mounted motors:

• EP-8 variant SS300 or SS301 (tested up to FW 4.1.8).
• Also compatible with DI2!
• This tuning tool is compatible with all current Shimano motor firmwares / the evaluation of the motor software is not affected by the manipulated values.
• Please indicate the desired compatibility when ordering:
• SS300 or SS301
