MBIQ-P Plug-In Solution for Shimano STEPS E5xxx - E8xxx

An ingenious plug-in solution to easily remove the 25 km/h speed limit of Shimano STEPS e-bike motors. This allows you to use the full potential of the Shimano drives, so that you can ride much faster with full motor support. This tuning tool has no further functions. A special feature of this MBIQ-P is that it is probably the smallest tuning solution for Shimano e-bikes ever. The tool is extremely compact and therefore requires very little installation space. This makes installation even easier.

After connection, the MBIQ-P will analyse the current speed profile and output manipulated values (when tuning is active). This tricks the 25 km/h speed limit and removes it. By the way, the evaluation of the engine software is not affected by the manipulated values.

Please note that due to this functional principle, the correct speed is no longer displayed from approx. 22 km/h onwards when the tuning is activated.

Tuning can be switched on and off

The MBIQ-P is programmable by the customer, without the need for additional devices such as PCs or smartphones. This gives you the option of switching the tuning on or off.

Programming is done by means of certain wheel movements when the Shimano Steps e-bike is started up. In this way, three different operating modes can be set:

-Mode 1: Tuning permanently activated (25 km/h speed limit is lifted, no correct speed display from approx. 22 km/h onwards).

-Mode 2: Tuning permanently deactivated (motor support normal up to 25 km/h, correct speed display).

-Mode 3: Tuning after switch-on condition (via magnet). In this mode, you can determine whether the tuning should be active or not when switching on the e-bike. To switch on the tuning, the magnet must be in front of the sensor for at least 4-5 seconds when starting up, otherwise the tuning remains inactive.

Simple installation

Since the MBIQ-P is a plug-in solution, connecting the tool is easy. The tuning simply needs to be inserted between the speed sensor and the engine control unit. Thanks to compatible connectors that are identical to those of the existing sensor cable, an optimal connection is ensured.

No additional power supply / battery is required to operate the MBIQ-P (the power is supplied passively via the sensor path).

If you want to undo the tuning, you can remove the MBIQ-P at any time and restore the e-bike to its original condition.

The MBIQ-P works on the basis of a microcontroller and is compatible with all common motor firmwares of the manufacturers. For Shimano e-bike drives, the tuning has been successfully tested up to FW 4.9.0.
