The MBIQ-P for Shimano EP801/EP6/EP600 mid-motors is a "hybrid" tuning module with two different manipulation modes on board. It was specially developed for the latest generation of motors. In addition to the classic "Freeze" mode, there is also the innovative "Damp mode".
The MBIQ-P module removes the preset 25 km/h speed limit, whereby the maximum speed can be set individually if required. No additional devices are required for this (e.g. PC or smartphone). As delivered, a maximum speed of up to 34 km/h is possible.
Simple installation: The existing speed sensor can be plugged in directly. The tuning has the same connectors as the existing sensor cable, so that simple integration between the speed sensor and the engine control unit is possible.
Please note: In order to gain access to the corresponding plug connections, the motor cover must be temporarily removed. Important: On some e-bike models, the motor is integrated in the frame - in this case, it must be completely removed to gain access to the connections (e.g. ORBEA, ....).
The MBIQ-P is compatible with the standard motor firmwares of the manufacturers and works on a microcontroller basis.
"Hybrid tamper"
Instead of the familiar FREEZE manipulation (freezing the speedometer at 25 km/h), the MBIQ-P module uses a new, additional manipulation method, the DAMP mode. Here, the manipulated speed output is "damped" according to an algorithm and a final speed with a factor of X is achieved.
Note: According to the manufacturer, the "Freeze" mode is not recommended for the specified Shimano motors due to the manipulation detection of the motor software. However, the module is delivered in DAMP mode anyway (factory setting 1.35 = approx. 34 km/h top speed).
Functionality
The current speed profile is analyzed, processed and - if tuning is activated - manipulated values are output.
Data in the e-bike display
Damp mode: The speed output corresponds approximately to the actual speed ridden, but damped by a set, parameterizable factor. The factory setting is 1.35.
Here is an example: Output value = 25 km/h, actual final speed 33.75 km/h. (25 * 1,35 = 33,75)
FREEZE mode: Up to a value of approx. 22 to 25 km/h, the speed displayed corresponds approximately to the actual speed ridden (varies depending on the system). At higher (real) speeds, the displayed value always remains around this range, but never higher than 25 km/h.
Here is an example: The displayed speed is 22 km/h, but in reality the speed is around 40 km/h, etc.
The total kilometers displayed are also lower for journeys with active tuning for the corresponding range.
Motion programming
Programmable by the customer: The functionality of the tuning module can be programmed after installation without additional devices. For example, it is possible to specify whether the tuning should be permanently active or only for the respective journey ("Tuning according to switch-on condition"). The maximum speed can also be set. Programming takes place when the e-bike is started up by means of certain wheel movements, during which the sensor must be guided along the spoke magnet, whereby certain values are shown on the display (see illustration below). Detailed operating instructions are included.
Please note:
When delivered, the MBIQ-P module is in DAMP mode with a set factor of 1.35. This means that top speeds of up to approx. 34 km/h are possible.
The adjustment of the value / mode is the responsibility of the owner and can (not necessarily) lead to manipulation detections.
This is indicated by the ERROR code: E295. If this appears, the value/mode must be adjusted back immediately.
Caution! If error E295 is ignored several times, the entire drive unit is blocked and error E299 is output. This can only be reversed by the dealer!
MBIQ-P for Shimano EP801 / EP6 / EP600 - Compatibility
This tuning module is only compatible with the following Shimano e-bike drivetrains:
- EP801 / RS (DU-EP801)
- EP6 / EP600 (DU-EP600)
Important notes:
-Due to the possible tuning detection, the Freeze operating mode is not recommended for the motors mentioned. Adjusting the multiplier in DAMP mode is also at your own risk, as too high values can lead to malfunctions (the default setting is 1.35, which corresponds to a maximum speed of around 34 km/h).
Speed-based assistance systems such as electronic Di2 shifters also receive the manipulated signals for processing and must be set accordingly. Proper function cannot be guaranteed!
-The ACC connection must be activated for the tuning to work correctly with EP801 and EP6 drives! Unfortunately, this is not the case with all models. If the ACC connection cannot be activated, the module can alternatively be connected to the light. The disadvantage of this solution is that activation via the light is not possible in this case, and the light must always be switched on.
"Anti-tuning" ready
The MBIQ-P is compatible with the common engine firmwares of the manufacturers. The manipulated values do not affect the evaluation of the engine software.
-Easy installation - the tuning is simply plugged between the existing sensor cable and the engine. If necessary, it can be removed again to restore the original condition of the e-bike.
-Compatible plug connectors - The tuning module has identical plug connectors for an optimum connection.

Shipping costs
The shipping costs for Germany are 3,50 Euro. The shipping costs are waived from an order value of 180 Euro. For countries within the EU the shipping costs are 9,90 Euro. The shipping costs are waived from an order value of 300 Euro. We ask you to cover the cost of any return shipment yourself. Please note that customs fees may apply in third countries outside the European Union.
Minimum order value
The minimum order value is 25 Euro. Only from this amount you can use prepayment or PayPal and bank transfer as payment methods.
