MBIQ-P for Shimano EP8 / EP800 / EP8-RS
With this ingenious tuning tool, not only can the 25 km/h speed limit of Shimano EP8 e-bikes be lifted, you can even set the top speed individually.
The MBIQ-P is a practical plugin solution that has to be inserted between the speed sensor and the motor control. For this purpose, the tuning tool has been equipped with the same connectors as the existing sensor cable. Thanks to its compactness, the tool requires very little installation space. Of course, the MBIQ-P can be removed again at any time if you want to restore the e-bike to its original condition.
After connection, the MBIQ-P analyses and processes the current speed profile. If tuning is active, the device will output manipulated values so that the 25 km/h speed limit is lifted.
The MBIQ-P works microcontroller-based and is programmable by the customer, completely without a PC or smartphone. Programming is done by means of certain wheel movements when the e-bike is started up. This allows tuning to be switched on and off - or permanently activated if desired. In addition, there is now (for the first time on the MBIQ-P) the option to increase the level of maximum support in several stages to an individual value.
This tuning tool is completely maintenance-free and does not require its own battery!
Please note: When tuning is active, the speed indication in the display is "frozen" from a speed of approx. 23 km/h onwards, so that the displayed speed does not exceed a value of 25 km/h - even if you are actually riding much faster. Tip: Simply use GPS-capable additional devices such as smartphones if you want to have the real speed displayed while you are on the road. You can find practical smartphone holders for the handlebars in our shop.
Tuning can be switched on and off
The MBIQ-P is customer programmable so that different operating modes can be set. This gives you the option of switching the tuning on or off.
Programming is done by means of certain wheel movements when the bike is started up. Three different operating modes can be set:
-Mode 1: Tuning permanently activated (25 km/h speed limit is lifted, from approx. 23 km/h the displayed speed is "frozen").
-Mode 2: Tuning permanently deactivated (motor support normal up to 25 km/h, correct speed display).
-Mode 3: Activation after switch-on condition. In this mode, you can determine whether the tuning should be active or not by means of certain movements of the spoke magnet along the sensor (when the e-bike is switched on).
Installation
The MBIQ-P is a plug-in solution that must be inserted into the existing speed sensor's line. Thanks to compatible connectors that are identical to those of the existing sensor line, an optimal connection is ensured. For installation, the plastic cover of the motor must be removed briefly.

Important: Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads. Legally permissible use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Driving an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license as well as driving without insurance coverage. Tuning measures on the e-bike and e-scooter can lead to a loss of warranty rights and manufacturer warranties. In addition, tuning measures can lead to a loss of insurance coverage and accident victim assistance benefits in the event of accidents. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is exposed to an additional load due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
