The latest and so far best version of the Badass Box especially for e-bikes with Impulse mid-mounted motors, such as those used on Kalkhoff e-bikes. This tuning tool completely removes the 25 km/h speed limit. In contrast to the previous version, the Badass Box 3.4, the new Badass Box 4 has a significantly higher range (7,000 instead of 6,000 km), and it can be mounted much faster with just one hand. In addition, the housing is not only significantly more robust, but also much narrower in design, so that adapters are no longer needed during installation. Thanks to the patented snap lock, mounting and dismounting the box works more nimbly than ever before. 

Tuning in seconds

The tuning can be activated in seconds by putting on the Badass Box 4 and moving the spoke magician a little (thanks to the Toolfree screw supplied, you don't need any tools for this). You can cancel the tuning just as quickly by removing the box and moving the magnet back to its original position - and the e-bike is back in its original condition!

How it works

After attaching the box, it transmits a modified signal so that the preset speed limit of the e-bike drive can be exceeded. This works absolutely contact-free and without direct intervention in the motor electronics or software, so that the motor cannot be damaged in any way.

Please note: Due to the aforementioned mode of operation, the e-bike display will no longer show the correct speed when tuning is active (also applies to values derived from this). We recommend simply using GPS-capable additional devices (smartphone, bike computer, etc.) to determine the correct speed.

Very high range with only 1 battery

Thanks to a specially developed & patented field amplification technology as well as the new AAA battery, which replaces the CR2 battery of the previous model, the service life of the Badass Box 4 is longer than ever before: You only have to replace the battery after approx. 7000 kilometres or after one year (due to battery discharge). Of course, you can replace the battery at any time, without any tools. Appropriate AAA batteries can be found everywhere in the shops.

Badass Box 4 Impulse - Installation

The installation of the Badass Box is easy, there is no need to open the motor. Thanks to the new design, the installation and use of the Badass Box is simpler than ever before. The housing has been completely redesigned and made much slimmer (the sensor application is now only a minimum of 3 mm), so that there can no longer be any installation situations that are too tight. An annoying adapter is no longer needed.

You simply have to mount the Badass Box 4 over the Impulse speed sensor on the rear wheel. As soon as the snap lock engages, the box is securely adjusted. Additional securing via cable ties is also possible.

We recommend replacing the spoke magnet screw with the supplied Toolfree screw during initial assembly. This will allow you to move the magnet in the future without the need for tools. After placing the Badass Box on the sensor, the spoke magnet must be moved towards the edge of the housing in the direction of the snap lock. When the spoke magnet should touch the box, you have to position the magnet as close as possible to the box and turn it by 90° - that's it, the tuning is activated and the 25 km/h speed limit has been lifted.

To cancel the tuning, simply remove the Badass Box and return the spoke magnet to its original position. After that, the e-bike has its original driving characteristics back (motor support up to 25 km/h).

Since the O-ring of the previous version has been replaced by the patented snap lock, you can put on and take off the Badass Box 4 even faster than ever before.

For better protection against moisture and mechanical stress, the electronics of the Badass Box are glued into the housing with a special potting compound and completely sealed. By the way, every Badass Box is tested for correct function before and after potting.
