About Heinzmann

The Schönau-based company Heinzmann is a system provider for the management of combustion engines, turbines and generators. The company has been active in the field of control- and drive-technology for around 115 years. Heinzmann began developing its first motorised bicycle as early as 1994. The Heinzmann e-bike motors incorporate all the technical know-how that the company has accumulated over the years as a renowned manufacturer of electric drives. The Heinzmann e-bike systems are modular in design, so that e-bike manufacturers can combine components and motors as required. Since the standard dimensions of the bicycle industry are strictly adhered to and the motors can be installed either in the front or rear wheel, various suppliers are already using Heinzmann e-bike systems. One example is the ELFEI V3 e-bike conversion kit, which is equipped with the powerful Heinzmann DirectPower rear wheel motor. However, Heinzmann also produces its own e-bikes.

About Heinzmann e-bike motors

Heinzmann produces various e-bike motors, e.g.:

- "Classic", a proven DC wheel hub motor.

- "Cargo Power", a robust motor especially for cargo bikes.

- "DirectPower", a wear-free, noiseless direct drive.

The Heinzmann DirectPower drive, which is installed in the ELFEI V3 e-bike conversion kits, for example, is particularly popular. It is an extremely powerful brushless motor that was designed without a gearbox. The DirectPower motor therefore runs practically noiselessly; maintenance and wear have been minimised considerably. The motor can be installed in either the front or rear wheel; even brake discs and plug-in cassettes can be freely selected. Maximum motor support up to 25 km/h.

Can Heinzmann & ELFEI V3 motors be optimised?

Yes, at least for the popular Heinzmann DirectPower motor, which is also used in the ELFEI V3 conversion kit, there is a recommendable tuning tool with which the 25 km/h speed limit can be easily removed:
