The EBT Unlock Key is the world’s first fully browser-based solution to unlock Bosch Gen1–Gen4 motors. All you need is a PC or Mac, a USB cable, stable internet, and your personal unlock key received after purchase.
What You Need
- Windows PC or Mac with the latest Chrome, Safari, or Edge browser
- Standard USB cable (Micro-USB or USB-C, depending on your Bosch display)
- Stable internet connection
- Bosch e-bike with BES1 or BES2 system (see compatibility below)
- Your personal EBT Unlock Key (received by email)
How It Works – Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Set up a stable internet connection on your PC or Mac. Connect your Bosch display to your computer using a USB data cable.
Step 3: Receive your invoice and your personal 25-digit unlock code by email.
Step 4: Open the provided unlock platform link in your browser.
Step 5: Open the registration window. Click on "Change License Key" to enter or edit your unlock code.
Step 6: After confirmation, the browser establishes a secure connection to your Bosch display. Confirm the pairing.
Step 7: The system reads out your motor data: motor type, serial number, firmware version, and current unlock status.
Step 8: Now click on "Unlock" to remove the factory speed limit (button not shown in image).
Step 9: The system confirms that your Bosch motor is now fully unlocked, displaying the theoretical maximum speed.
Step 10: You can also re-lock your bike at any time. If other users are online, you may briefly enter a short waiting queue.
Step 11: Locking complete. You can now disconnect the USB cable and continue riding normally.

How the EBT Unlock Key Affects Your Display
On Bosch Gen2–Gen4 motors, the display will show half the actual speed after unlocking. This is normal behavior and does not impact performance or riding experience. Gen1 motors with Intuvia display show correct speed values. The EBT Unlock Key ensures stable, error-free operation across all supported systems (no 504 errors).
Legal Notice
Unlocking your Bosch motor removes the factory speed restriction. After activation, your e-bike is no longer classified as a Pedelec in most countries. Use is legally allowed only on private property or closed courses. Buyer assumes full legal responsibility for usage.
