The Chinese company Bafang is an internationally active, successful manufacturer of complete systems and system components for e-bikes and e-scooters. The modular Bafang systems can be individually assembled by the e-bike manufacturers. These systems are considered relatively inexpensive and easy to install, which is why they are often used in e-bike retrofit kits. The Bafang Max Drive mid-motor drive system, which was first presented at the beginning of 2015, caused a particular stir. The Max Drive system scores with a massive torque of 80 Nm, which of course provides very powerful support - an immense advantage, especially off-road. Compared to the previous Bafang e-bike drives, the design of the Max Drive System looks much more modern and tidy. A real special feature of this drive is the double bottom bracket sensor (one for each crank). This now also enables so-called zero-cadence reactions of the motor on Bafang drives, as known from the successful Bosch Performance Line drives.
