About AEG

AEG Aktiengesellschaft was founded in Berlin in 1883. The company grew into one of the world's largest electronics groups, known in particular for high-quality household appliances such as washing machines, hoovers, refrigerators, cooking appliances, etc. "AEG", by the way, stands for "Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft". In 1982 AEG had to file for insolvency, but was then taken over by Daimler-Benz AG. Finally, the AEG brand was sold to the Swedish Electrolux group. Electrolux in turn granted licences for the use of the AEG brand name, so that nowadays various companies market electrical goods under the AEG brand name. The product range is therefore much larger than in earlier times - it no longer only includes pure household appliances, but also car radios, music systems, smartphones, various drive systems etc.

AEG e-bike motors

As early as 2012, the first two AEG e-bike drive systems were presented at the EUROBIKE trade fair, with a mid-mounted motor and a rear-wheel drive. The success was initially limited. However, the AEG 2019 drive systems were a real step forward. In the meantime, the AEG range already includes several e-bike mid-mounted motors and various front and rear motors. All these drives are exclusively used in Prophete e-bikes (there is a close cooperation between Prophete and AEG). The Prophete "Drive System 2020" was awarded with the German Design Award 2019. This system consists of a motor and battery that can be perfectly integrated into the frame of Prophete e-bikes.

The AEG mid-mounted motors in particular are considered to be real power packs, but at the same time they are extremely light and compact. They are also almost noiseless. Meanwhile, the AEG e-bike mid-mounted motors are offered in different versions for riders with different demands, e.g. AEG ComfortDrive, AEG ComfortDrive C, AEG EcoDrive, AEG EcoDrive C & AEG SportDrive. All these drive systems are installed in Prophete e-bikes.

Can AEG e-bike motors be optimised?

In the meantime, yes. For a long time, there were no significant tuning options for e-bikes with AEG drive systems, but now there are several tuning tools available that can be used to remove the speed limit of AEG e-bikes. Suitable tuning tools are available from MBIQ, for example.
