Badass Box 4 Shimano X-Set (for e-bikes with integrated Shimano sensor SM-DUE10)

A tuning set especially for Shimano e-bikes with the Shimano sensor SM-DUE10 integrated in the dropout of the e-bike (see below for compatible sensor). The set includes the "Badass Box 4 Shimano 2019" - a tuning tool that completely removes the 25 km/h speed limit of Shimano e-bike mid-mounted motors. This allows you to ride much faster with 100% motor support. This tuning tool has no further features - its range of functions is therefore reduced to the absolute essentials. All parts needed to install the tuning are included in the set. Note: When tuning is active, the e-bike display will no longer show the correct speed.

Please note: To install this tuning tool, a few small modifications must be made, so a bit of technical skill is required. For example, the rear wheel must be removed to gain access to the Shimano sensor in the dropout. This is necessary so that the Shimano sensor can be screwed onto the universal adapter supplied and attached to the chain stay.Therefore, please be sure to read the installation instructions below before you decide to order the tuning kit!

Legal condition can be restored

Once the universal adapter with the screwed-on Shimano sensor has been attached to the chain stay with the help of the cable ties supplied, you can switch on the tuning by sliding the Badass Box onto the adapter. Then you just have to align the spoke magnet with the Badass Box housing and the tuning is active. The legal condition of the e-bike can be restored at any time by dismantling it.
More robust than ever

The electrics of the Badass Box 4 Shimano 2019 are glued and sealed into the housing with a special potting compound from the automotive industry. This makes the box more robust and insensitive to moisture than any other Badass Box version before it.

Every single box is tested for correct functionality before and after potting.

How does the Badass Box 4 work?

This tuning kit is equipped with the Badass Box 4 Shimano 2019. After the Badass Box has been plugged in, it forwards a modified signal so that the 25 km/h speed limit can be outsmarted and exceeded. This is done contact-free, i.e. without interfering with the motor electronics. The engine does not have to be opened elaborately and there is no risk of damage.

Important note: Due to the functional principle described, the e-bike display will no longer show correct values when tuning is active. This applies to both the speed and the values derived from it. We recommend using GPS-capable additional devices, such as bike computers or smartphones, to record the correct riding data. You can find special handlebar mounts for smartphones in our shop here.

With the Badass Box 4, the CR2 battery of the previous models has been replaced by a more powerful AAA battery. Thanks to the specially developed and patented field enhancement technology FEET (Field Enhancement & Elimination Technology), you can get very far with one battery. If necessary, the battery can be replaced at any time without tools. Corresponding replacement batteries can be bought inexpensively almost anywhere in the trade. The manufacturer recommends replacing the battery once a year at the start of the season.

Installation instructions

You will find the integrated Bosch sensor in the dropout area of your e-bike. You have to remove the rear wheel to gain access to the sensor:

Now you need to locate the position of the sensor in the dropout of the bike (the sensor shape shown is an example):

Now you have to loosen the screws of the mounting with which the sensor is fixed to the dropout:

Now you need to attach the universal adapter to the Bosch sensor with a cap screw, washer and nut (all included):

Now you can attach the universal adapter, together with the screwed-on Bosch sensor, to the chain stay using the cable ties supplied:

Now you have to push the Badass Box onto the adapter until it locks into place. Then reinstall the rear wheel. Now you just have to mount the spoke magnet and align it to the edge of the Badass Box housing. That's it!

Installation instructions

You will find the integrated Shimano sensor in the area of the dropout of your e-bike. To access the sensor, you have to remove the rear wheel:

Now you have to find the position of the integrated sensor in the dropout (the sensor shown is an example):

Now loosen the screws of the bracket with which the sensor (example illustration) is attached to the dropout:

Now you have to attach the universal adapter to the Shimano sensor (example illustration) with a cap screw, washer and nut (all included in the scope of delivery):

Now you can attach the universal adapter with the screwed-on Shimano sensor (example illustration) to the chain stay using the cable ties supplied:

Now push the Badass Box onto the adapter until it clicks into place. Reinstall the rear wheel. Then mount the spoke magnet and align it with the edge of the Badass Box housing. That's it - your e-bike is tuned and goes much faster!

Important note - please note:

You only need this set if you have a Shimano e-bike with a Shimano sensor SM-DUE10 integrated in the dropout (Fig. left):

If the sensor integrated in the dropout has the shape of the second sensor (right picture), then it is the newer SM-DUE11 sensor from Shimano. In this case you need the Badass Box 4 Shimano 2020 set.

If the Shimano SM-DUE10 sensor (fig. left) of your e-bike is easily accessible on the chain stay, you only need the standard Badass Box 4 for Shimano.
