Only the left sensor is compatible. If your e-bike is equipped with the sensor on the right, you need the Badass Box 4 for Shimano 2020.

The optimised and in many ways improved version of the Badass Box for e-bikes with Shimano motors. The Badass Box 4 removes the 25 km/h speed limit of the Shimano drive, so you can ride much faster with full motor support. After installation, thanks to a new snap lock, you can quickly put on or take off the box with just one hand and thus activate or deactivate the tuning in no time at all. Once the Badass Box 4 has been removed, the e-bike is back in its original condition.

The Badass Box 4 works by transmitting a modified signal - without contact and without electrical connection to the motor - or without intervention in the motor electronics (or motor software) - this in turn enables the speed limit to be exceeded.

Please note: If the Badass Box 4 is active, the e-bike display will no longer show the correct speed (also applies to values derived from it). We therefore recommend using additional devices with the appropriate GPS function (smartphone, bike computer, etc.) to record the exact riding data.

The power supply of the Badass Box 4 comes from a powerful AAA battery. This only needs to be replaced after a mileage of over 7000 km or after one year (due to battery discharge). You can replace the battery yourself on site at any time, without any tools.

Since the Badass Box 4 electrics are glued into the housing with a special potting compound and sealed, it is more robust and more insensitive to moisture than all other Badass Box variants before it.

Each BadassBox 4 is extensively tested for correct function before and after potting.

The advantages of the new BadassBox 4 over the previous BadassBox type 3.3:

- Completely redesigned, slimmer housing with patented snap lock ensures even faster attachment and removal (the O-ring from the previous version no longer exists). Even easier installation thanks to the slimmer housing.

- Increased range of over 7,000 km thanks to new AAA battery and specially developed and patented field enhancement technology FEET (Field Enhancement & Elimination Technology). In case of replacement, the AAA battery is also significantly cheaper and easier to procure than the previous CR2 battery.

- Even more robust thanks to special potting compound from the automotive industry. Better protection against moisture and mechanical stress than ever before.

- At the customer's request, an additional optional fastening protection has been provided by means of cable ties on the snap lock.

The Badass Box 4 is a quality product, developed and manufactured in Germany.

Badass Box for e-bikes with integrated sensor in the swingarm:

You need: a) Badass Box, b) cable tie adapter (universal adapter) as well as c) magnet (spoke magnet) (already included in the Badass Box 4) and some manual skills.

Badass Box 4 - Assembly

The assembly of this tuning tool is quite simple. The motor does not have to be opened elaborately and the e-bike cannot be damaged. The Badass Box 4 simply has to be mounted over the Shimano speed sensor next to the rear wheel. Once the snap lock is engaged, the Badass Box is securely attached to the speed sensor. If you wish, you can also secure the box with a cable tie.

Please note that the original magnet must be replaced with the supplied spoke magnet during initial assembly. By the way, if the Badass Box is not attached, this spoke magnet works exactly like the original magnet.

After the Badass Box has been placed on the sensor, you must move the spoke magnet towards the edge of the housing in the direction of the snap lock. If the spoke magnet should touch the Badass Box, you have to place the spoke magnet as close as possible to the Badass Box and turn it 90° - that's it!

When you have taken the Badass Box off again, you have to put the spoke magnet back in its original position. Thanks to the Toolfree screw, this can be done easily and without tools at any time.
